Children in the United Kingdom have a legal right to education and it is the legal responsibility of the parents or guardians to ensure that children attend school for the required 190 days per school year. We would like to thank the majority of our parents who support their children in attending school everyday and on time.
Attendance and achievement are closely linked and we therefore expect our children to have excellent attendance. Here at Honilands, we reward children who have excellent attendance with prizes and certificates throughout the school year.
Attendance is closely monitored and we ask that parents phone the school before 9am if their child is absent, giving the reason. We work closely with parents and their children to improve attendance and encourage them to attend school, however if required, we do issue parent contracts, serve penalty notices and refer families to the London Borough of Enfield's Education Welfare Service.
Children who attend regularly not only achieve more academically, they also maintain friendships easier and are happier socialising with their peers.
